PFA4 - Engaging in Advocacy and with Elected Officials: A Session for Health Center Board Members

Session Description: Health centers are governed by patient-majority, community-based boards, and this model has been critical in the growth and impact of health centers across the country. At a time when advocacy and standing up for the health center mission is as important as ever, a health center board member’s “why” and story of service can be a powerful tactic for advocacy, especially when engaging with elected officials and their staff in support of sustainable health center funding and other priorities.

During this interactive session, health center board members will be guided through a series of activities to craft and share their “why” for advocacy. By the end of the session, health center board members will have the tools to share their personal “why” and connect it with their health center’s mission in preparation for visits on Capitol Hill.
